Instructors:

Dan Shuttleworth

Dan is officially the best mechanic in the UK and Ireland having won the Shimano Mechanic of the year competition. He will be representing the UK at the European Mechanics Championship at the end of the year. Calm, patient and incredibly knowledgable; Dan has been a mechanic for over 20 years and takes great pride in his work. Full of useful hints and tips picked up over the years, Dan is always happy to share his knowledge to help others progress.

Terry Amies

Although there could only be one winner, Terry was also one of the finalists in the Shimano Mechanic of the year competition and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. Having made a career change 20 years ago to being a bike mechanic, Terry has done it all, from building his own frames to being the top performer on many of our suppliers training platforms meaning Terry is always up to date with the latest technology.

Gareth Ffowcs Williams

Terry and Dan are the experts when it comes to bikes, and Gareth oversees the whole operation. With a long background in teaching Gareth ensures that the pedagogy of our sessions is first class. As a qualified mechanic, Gareth isn’t a stranger to the workshop, but it is with specialist items such as power meters, and bike computer integration where Gareth will be delivering sessions.

Group sizes are kept low to ensure each session has a high level of instructor contact giving all students ample opportunity to ask questions and really get to understand what they need to learn.

The centre is based within our store in Llandudno Junction so it is easily accessible by road and rail. There are a number of different hotel options within walking distance of the store and we have a café on site to help keep energy levels up during the day.

As well as our City and Guilds accredited courses, we will also be delivering our own training sessions, such as Day specials looking at things such as Hydraulic Brakes, Rear Derailleurs, and trailside maintenance. We will also be putting on twilight session to help with smaller things such as getting your Garmin set up correctly and getting the most out of your e-bike.
