Founded in 1995, the Canadian bike brand Cervelo have been at the forefront of bike design from the off. Their bikes have always pushed the boundaries in terms of aerodynamics and outright speed, with various models winning the biggest bike races in the world such as Le Tour D’France, Giro D’Italia, Paris – Roubaix, and the list goes on.

The S5 continues this trend as the brands flagship aero race bike, and continues to push limits with it’s design and features which make it one of the world’s most capable race machines. This bike looks like it belongs in NASA’s fleet of rockets rather than out on the road!

Don’t let this no holds barred performance let you think that this bike is uncomfortable on longer days out though. With space for 28mm tyres thanks to a disc brake only frame design, the S5 is still incredibly comfortable out on the road and the bike also comes with plenty of spacers for the crazy looking front end to allow you to dial your fit perfectly. On the subject of the wild looking cockpit at the front of the bike, this too allows for comfort with a beautifully shaped flat-topped carbon handlebar and sculpted stem enabling the rider to seek the most optimized position when racing, chasing PB’s or going for that local KOM. Unlike most aero optimized cockpits however, Cervelo have opted for a two piece bar and stem design which still allows for easy maintenance, cable routing and adjustment which only adds to the versatility of this incredible race machine.

The S5 also handles incredibly well after Cervelo increased the frame stiffness compared to the previous generation bike. Bottom bracket stiffness is up by around 25%, and the headtube increased by 13%, resulting in a bike that shares similar handling characteristics to the brands razor sharp R5 model. This allows you to not only fly along the flat and up brutal climbs, but now rail your favorite descents as well with confidence and control.

The S5 range starts with an Ultegra mechanical build featuring Reserve’s 50mm Carbon wheels for £5,699, and works it way up to the top of the range S5 which features Shiamno’s Dura Ace Di2 groupset and ENVE SES 5.6 wheels for £11,059. There is a build kit within the range to suit every riders needs.

After the best of the best when it comes to all out speed on the road? Look no further than the S5 from Cervelo.
