Having your bike set up in the correct way is essential if you are to get the most out of it and avoid aches and pains. This is true if you are just starting out or an experienced rider. As our bodies change and adapt, so does the position that will feel comfortable and most efficient on the bike.

It is this continually changing relationship between rider and bike that makes a regular bike fit a crucial part of any successful ride experience. Here at We Cycle we have 2 qualified bike fitters based in store on hand to offer advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your pride and joy.

When you buy a road bike from We Cycle it comes as standard with a complimentary level 1 bike fit to ensure that you leave with the confidence that the bike is going to provide you with many happy miles of riding.

Level 1 – £60 (roughly 45 minutes)

Our entry level fit, perfect for the rider who just wants the peace of mind that they have the right sized bike, and have it set up correctly as a good starting point. This fit is carried out on your own bike, using video capture technology.

  • Saddle fore/aft adjustment
  • Handlebar height and stem position
  • Shoe and cleat setup

Level 2 – £120 (roughly 2 hours)

Our most popular bike fit. This starts with a full initial physical assessment including saddle sizing before we go anywhere near your bike. We then use this to guide our fitting with you and your bike. Our understanding of how you move, and how you integrate with the bike allows us to make adjustments with you to find a position where you are comfortable, confident, and powerful. We use cutting edge technology from Velogicfit to provide 3D analysis of every pedal stroke. This use of technology helps us speed up the process with accurate measurements, but also helps highlight to you how small changes are effecting your interaction with your bike. You will benefit from being able to see how you can benefit from subtle technique changes and how your posture on the bike can adjust as you ride.

Saddle Selection – £50 (roughly 45 minutes)

Time after time we see people try multiple different saddles to no avail, when the real problem is actually the position of the saddle itself. Shoe and Cleat fitting – £50 (roughly 45 minutes)

Lake shoes are well known in the industry for being the brand that accommodate a huge range of feet size and shapes. We help measure your feet and recommend the correct size and model based on your foot shape and the type of riding you intend to do. But it doesn’t end there – setting your cleats up so that your foot sits true on the bike is as important as the correct size shoe, so once the shoe is sorted we will get you on your bike so we can adjust the cleats accordingly. This service is free on all shoes over £250.

  • Foot measurement and analysis
  • Shoe moulding to your foot in Lake oven (where applicable)
  • Cleat fitting
  • Cleat adjustment to ensure foot correctly interacts with the pedals

Bike Sizing – £50 (roughly 45 minutes)

A bike purchase can be a big investment, and getting the wrong size is an expensive mistake. That is why we offer a bike sizing service for when we don’t have the correct size bike available in store for you to try. We take a number of measurements from you, then we using Velogifit software we are able to recommend the most suitable sized bike for most brands (even if we don’t supply them). Beyond that, we can also replicate the contact points on our fit bike so you can feel what the bike would be like, even if you can’t actually see it.

  • Pre-fit measurements
  • Velogicfit frame finder
  • Frame size replication on bike fit equipment

On The Day

You will need to be in your riding kit for the bike fit (DON’T FORGET YOUR SHOES!). We have a changing room available so you can change in the store and then relax with a complimentary tea or coffee in the coffee shop if you have time before the bike fit starts whilst your bike is being set up on the turbo trainer.

Obviously you will need to bring your bike with you. If you have more than one bike of a similar style and you would like the riding position mirrored on each bike we can do this using our laser jig at the end of the session, or at a different time, for a small fee.
